Murphy expressed his appreciation for Nolan’s unique approach, noting the intense focus, unwavering dedication, and amusingly, the scarcity of seating options for actors, evoking laughter from the audience.

Acknowledging Nolan and producer Emma Thomas for their enduring faith in him over two decades, Murphy touched on the collaborative nature of acting and praised the exceptional ensemble cast of “Oppenheimer,” including Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, and Gary Oldman. This win marks Murphy’s first Golden Globe victory and his second nomination, the first being for his role in the 2006 comedy/thriller film “Breakfast on Pluto.”

“Oppenheimer” received multiple nominations, including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Original Score, and nods in the supporting actor and actress categories for Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt, respectively. The film also secured a nomination in the new cinematic and box office achievement category.

In a competitive field, Murphy triumphed over fellow nominees Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”), Andrew Scott (“All of Us Strangers”), Colman Domingo (“Rustin”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), and Barry Keoghan (“Saltburn”). The 81st Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Jo Koy, took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 7.
